If you are on our Standard, Pro or Advanced plan you will be able to use our Real Time Shipping feature.

The most accurate shipping quotes are provided by Real Time Shipment (RTS), which also helps to prevent under or overcharging for shipping. At the time of checkout, carriers offer dynamic rate estimations based on the shipment's weight, distance, and number of boxes required. RTS rates are estimates, so your actual postage may vary depending on your final weight and parcel size.

To set up your real time shipping:

  • Go to Settings > Shipping/Delivery on your dashboard.

  • You will have to have created a Shippo account.

  • Once you have created a Shippo account, you will have to connect it to your shop. You can connect this in your Shipping / Delivery settings.

You must have the following in order to use Real Time Shipping:

Carrier Accounts:

USA

UK

Please note:

There are 2 options when it comes to carrier rates. You can either use Stor's default rates or you can use your own carrier account, if you have one.

  • You can also use a combination of Real-Time Shipping and manual/custom shipping options.

  • You will be able to add a carrier on your Dashboard > Settings > Shipping/Delivery > Add Carrier.

  • Shipping Origin Address: Add in where you ship your orders from on your Dashboard > Settings > Shipping/Delivery > General Settings.

  • At least one shipment box set up to calculate shipping costs: To calculate the total number of boxes required to ship an order, the dimensions, maximum weight, and item capacity of the boxes are taken into account. You can add in your default package size on your Dashboard > Settings > Shipping/Delivery > General Settings.

  • Item weights: Based on the combined weight of the products in the order, RTS gives rate estimates. By going to your Dashboard > Products and updating each item to add a weight, you can specify weights.

Product & Package Dimensions

Products:

You can specify the dimensional weight of your products if they come in a variety of sizes to get more precise real-time quotes from the carriers at checkout.

Packages:

If your products do not have individual dimensions specified, the package dimensions are used to calculate real-time shipping rates. If most of your products fit into the same shipping boxes, you can specify the package dimensions only.

How does this work?

Consider that you sell handmade furniture that comes in a range of weights and sizes, such as tables and chairs. You can set the maximum items to two and the maximum weight to the equivalent of two chairs because the default box size adequately accommodates two of your chairs. For the table, however, you need a much larger box, so you make a second box that is 18" x 18" x 18" with a single item capacity and a maximum weight that is equal to the weight of the table. To guarantee that the larger box is used whenever someone purchases a table, you would then change each item and link it to the appropriate box.

Note: RTS will use multiples of the largest box size required to accommodate the number and weight of items purchased if a customer puts an order where more than one box size is required.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Why are my customers not seeing any shipping options at checkout?

    1. This could be because the particular product does not have a weight set to it. For Shippo to calculate the shipping costs, it will need to know the weight of each product.

    2. Make sure you have enabled the carrier on Shippo and chosen the service level options you wish to offer.

  2. How do I deactivate different service level options shown to the customer (Ground, Next Day, Air)?

    1. First you will need to deactivate the options in your Shippo account. Guide on how to do so can be found here.

    2. You will then need to deactivate it in your Stor shipping / delivery settings by selecting 'edit' on each carrier and updating the shipping options you would like to show at checkout.

  3. Multiple packages and multiple labels

    1. Currently, our Shippo integration does not allow for the printing of multiple labels and multiple packages. This is something our engineers are now working on. Whilst this is being built out by our developers, we would recommend that you disable your Shippo connection for now and set up your own shipping rules based on the ones your chosen carrier provides.

  4. My carriers are showing different shipping rates than what is being shown to our customers on our website.

    1. Our shipping rates are pulled directly from Shippo and Shippo pulls this data from your selected carriers. There may be differences in price if different service levels have been chosen by your customer.

  5. How can I exclude / include tax on shipping price?

    a. If you are charging tax on your products and you wish to include tax on your shipping, go to Settings > Tax > Tick the 'Charge Tax on Sales' box and update the 'Tax on Delivery Charges'.
