Whenever possible, add product variants to give customers more choices and appeal to a wider range of interests or needs. Variants typically include different colours, sizes, and materials, but there are more possibilities.
Adding product variants
You can add variants while creating a new product or editing an existing one. To edit an existing product, the first step is to open the Edit Product page.
Log in to your store.
Click Products on the side menu.
Select a product. The Edit Product page displays.
Select Variants on the side menu.
Creating a variant
Click the Add Variant Type button. A new page displays. To create the first variant, which is normally the base product:
Enter a product name.
Click the Variant Type field and select an option (size, colour/pattern, or other).
Enter a brief description in the Variant Options field.
Go to the Variant heading and update these optional product information fields (i.e. price, SKU, weight, and quantity).
Add a unique image for each variant. (optional)
Note The variant image replaces the product’s default image when a customer selects the variant on the Product page.
To create more variants, click the Add Another Option button and fill in the fields. Check and update the product information.
Choose one variant to be the default selection (this one displays first on the product card and Product page) add select the Default? button. Normally, this is the master product.
To change the display order, click the grabber icon and move a variant to a new location. Changing this list changes the display order of variants on the Product page.
Note The Status of each variant is ON by default enabled. To disable a variant, switch off the toggle. The disabled variant will be shown as out of stock on the product page.
Deleting a variant
To remove a single variant from the list, click the three-dot icon and select Remove Variant. To delete the entire block of variants, click the red X icon.
